Mission Statement

Fairmount Co-op will nurture, educate, and enrich children through the philosophy of learning through play. Our school will support a classroom atmosphere of mutual respect, positive self-awareness, and learning at each child's individual pace. The families of the preschool will encourage service to all who belong through commitment, communications and creativity.

The Fairmount Church Cooperative Preschool program is designed for children three to five years old and offers exposure to art, music science, books, dramatic play, and the world in which they live.

Intellectual growth and physical development are guided by experienced, professional teachers in a controlled atmosphere that offers space and equipment scaled to size and capabilities of the children. The environment is designed to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.

Children are respected for their unique personalities and accepted at their own learning paces. We provide a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with ample opportunities to use materials freely and constructively, with stimulation appropriate to the child's developmental level.

Our preschool offers children a variety of social contacts, a sense of belonging to a group, a chance to share and cooperate with others their own age, and and opportunity to become self-sufficient away from home.

The Fairmount Co-op follows the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District for weather
related school closures.

Children will not be taken outside when the temperature (wind chill and heat index factored in) drops below 25 degrees or above 90 degrees at the time of their scheduled outdoor activity period. For your child’s sake, send
appropriate outdoor clothing!

If outdoor play is not possible, we will play in the Large Muscle Room instead.
